Vigil planned for 1-year-old girl slain in Henrico shooting
A candlelight prayer vigil will be held this weekend to honor Jaidah “Monae” Morris, the 1-year-old girl who died after a shooting in Henrico County early Tuesday.
The vigil will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at 502 Fayette Ave., where the fatal shooting took place.
The family is asking that attendees bring pink and white balloons, as well as candles.
The shooting, which also left a 20-year-old man wounded, unfolded about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Authorities said Thursday that they would not release additional information because the case involves an active investigation.
The 20-year-old, who neighbors said was the girl’s father, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening wounds, police said.
An update on his condition was unavailable Thursday.
