Chimborazo shooting a homicide, police say
RICHMOND — Richmond police said Thursday that they are classifying a fatal shooting last week in the city’s Chimborazo neighborhood as a homicide.
Police said they received a call about 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 5 for a shooting in the 3900 block of Crestview Road.
Officers arrived to find Hakeem W. Winston, 24, of the 800 block of Admiral Gravely Boulevard, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.
A second call was received about 12:35 p.m. regarding a man who had arrived at a local hospital with a lifethreatening gunshot wound.
Detectives determined the two incidents are related; police reiterated Thursday that they are not actively seeking any suspects.
