Chimb­o­razo shoot­ing a homi­cide, po­lice say

RICH­MOND — Rich­mond po­lice said Thurs­day that they are clas­si­fy­ing a fa­tal shoot­ing last week in the city’s Chimb­o­razo neigh­bor­hood as a homi­cide.

Po­lice said they re­ceived a call about 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 5 for a shoot­ing in the 3900 block of Crestview Road.

Of­fi­cers ar­rived to find Ha­keem W. Win­ston, 24, of the 800 block of Ad­mi­ral Gravely Boule­vard, suf­fer­ing from a life-threat­en­ing gun­shot wound. He was taken to a hospi­tal, where he died.

A sec­ond call was re­ceived about 12:35 p.m. re­gard­ing a man who had ar­rived at a lo­cal hospi­tal with a lifethreat­en­ing gun­shot wound.

De­tec­tives de­ter­mined the two in­ci­dents are re­lated; po­lice re­it­er­ated Thurs­day that they are not ac­tively seek­ing any sus­pects.
