BUCHANAN, Capitola "Cappy" Hudgins,
died on Thursday, October 12, 2017, in Midlothian, Va.
She was born in Norfolk, Va. on January 30, 1921, to Letcher A. and Savina M. Hudgins and she lived in Norfolk until 1998, when she and her husband, Dr. Gordon Squires Buchanan, moved to Atlantic Shores Retirement Community in Virginia Beach. She had been living at Spring Arbor of Salisbury in Midlothian since 2010.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy B. Perry and son-in-law, Dr. Samuel E. Perry Jr., who reside in Midlothian, Va.; her grandson, Bradford C. Perry and his wife, Tara FitzPatrick, who reside in Richmond; and her sister-inlaw, Margaret Stuart Hudgins, who resides in Virginia Beach. Cappy is also survived by two great grandchildren, Oliver Perry and Felix Perry. Cappy’s brother, Letcher A. Hudgins Jr., died in 2008. She is also survived by two nephews, Letcher A. Hudgins III and his wife, Patricia Herron, and Jeffrey S. Hudgins and his wife, Pat Hudgins.
The family wishes to thank the staff and wonderful caregivers at Spring Arbor of Salisbury and the Memory Cottage at Spring Arbor, as well as the staff of At Home Care Hospice. Additional thanks go to Dr. William Kevin Watterson and his nurse, Mary Catherine, for taking care of Cappy’s medical needs.
