She was also preceded in death by her sons, William Joseph Johnson and David Robert Johnson; and a sister, Dorothy Wakefield. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Robert William Johnson; daughter-in-law, Mary Ruth Johnson of Rocky Mount, N.C.; grandchildren, Stacy Kiss of Richmond, Va., Matthew Robert Johnson (Meagan) and Caitlin Gray Johnson of Rocky Mount, N.C.; greatgrandchildren, Dionycia Sky Johnson, Carly Grace Cagle and Simon Floyd Johnson of Rocky Mount, N.C. She is also survived by a cousin, Lisa Harrah (Mike) and their children, Ian and Cameron. Connie was loved by everyone who ever met her. A true Christian, who loved her Lord and Savior and tried to treat everyone with love and kindness. She could remember important dates and events and rarely forgot a birthday or anniversary of family and loved ones. She proved to be the ultimate Marine wife as she guarded the home through her Marine husband’s deployment to Korea and two deployments to Vietnam. She was a member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church in Richmond, Va. for many years. She will be sorely missed! The family will receive friends Sunday, October 15, 2017, from 1 to 2 p.m., at Bliley’s-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where a Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. A private interment will held at Quantico National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation or a charity of your choice.
