Puerto Rico asks $94B for hur­ri­cane re­lief

Rom­ney po­lit­i­cal ac­tion com­mit­tee and is cir­cu­lat­ing a pe­ti­tion to en­cour­age the for­mer Mas­sachusetts gov­er­nor to run re­gard­less of whether Hatch seeks re­elec­tion in 2018.

Rep­re­sen­ta­tives for Rom­ney did not re­spond to mes­sages seek­ing com­ment Mon­day. Rom­ney, 70, now lives in Utah.

Hatch’s spokesman, Matt Whitlock, said the sen­a­tor plans to de­cide whether to run by the end of the year.

WASH­ING­TON — Puerto Rico Gov. Ri­cardo Ros­sello un­veiled a $94.3 bil­lion dis­as­ter re­lief re­quest to Congress on Mon­day to help the U.S. ter­ri­tory re­cover from Hur­ri­cane Maria.

Ros­sello also promised that the is­land’s re­cov­ery ef­fort will be the “most trans­par­ent” in U.S. his­tory as the gov­er­nor faces crit­i­cism over award­ing a now-can­celed $300 mil­lion con­tract to a small Mon­tana-based power com­pany to re­build the na­tion’s elec­tric grid. Over
