Southpark Mall to get H&M store next spring
Cheap chic fashion retailer H&M is planning to open a 20,000-square-foot store in Southpark Mall in Colonial Heights in spring 2019.
“H&M has experienced a warm welcome from customers and fans in Virginia and is happy to continue to expand its store and employee count in the state,” said a company press release about the new store.
H&M entered the Richmond market in 2003 when it opened a one-level store at Short Pump Town Center in western Henrico County. It added a second level to its store in 2011, now occupying a total of about 21,000 square feet.
It opened a 22,000-square-foot store at Chesterfield Town Center in November 2015, and a 20,000-square-foot store in Stony Point Fashion Park in Richmond in December.
The Southpark Mall store will carry clothing for ladies, men and teens, and will carry the H&M Kids collection for newborns to 14-year-olds.
The store will be located adjacent to Kay Jewelers in the middle of the mall.
“We are elated to add this popular, trendsetting fashion store to Southpark Mall. It is a highly anticipated addition that has topped our customers’ wish list,” said Greg Biastock, mall general manager.
Southpark Mall, anchored by a Macy’s, J.C. Penney and Regal Cinemas, is located at 230 Southpark Circle. The mall is owned by Chattanooga, Tenn.based CBL Properties.
H&M, short for Hennes & Mauritz Inc., was founded in Sweden in 1947. H&M has more than 500 U.S. locations and more than 4,700 locations globally.
