Cowboys, Martin reach six-year extension
Guard Zach Martin and the Dallas Cowboys agreed to a six-year contract extension worth $84 million with $40 million guaranteed, NFL.com reported Wednesday.
With the contract averaging $14 million per year, Martin became the second-highest-paid offensive lineman behind New York Giants tackle Nate Solder, whose average salary is $15.5 million.
Martin was set to enter the final year of his contract with a base salary of $9.3 million.
Since entering the league as a first-round pick in 2014 with Dallas, Martin has been named to four straight Pro Bowls. He was selected first-team All-Pro twice.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin has won the 2018 George Halas Award from the Professional Football Writers of America. The Halas Award is given to a NFL player, coach or staff member who overcomes the most adversity to succeed. Goodwin had a career year on the field while dealing with family tragedies during the 2017 season.
