Maryland offensive lineman dies
Jordan McNair, a University of Maryland player hospitalized after an organized team workout two weeks ago, has died.
Damon Evans, Maryland’s executive athletics director, said Mr. McNair was hospitalized on May 29 and died Wednesday.
Mr. McNair was a 6-foot-4, 325-pound offensive lineman preparing for his sophomore season. A graduate of McDonogh (Md.) High School, Mr. McNair played one game last season.
Mississippi State wide receiver Reginald Todd is free on bond after his arrest on an alleged simple assault charge. The Clarion Ledger reported the 21-year-old was arrested Tuesday and processed into the Oktibbeha County jail. Details of what sparked the charge and information on his bond were not immediately available. It was unknown if he’s represented by an attorney. Todd is entering his sophomore season.
Former Illinois quarterback Jeff George Jr. said he will transfer to Michigan as a graduate transfer. George, the son of former Illini great and NFL quarterback Jeff George, struggled with ineffective passing during his two seasons in Champaign. He played in 11 games the last two seasons with nine starts and completed only 48 percent of his passes for 1,743 yards with 11 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. George is likely to join the Wolverines in a walk-on role.
