U.Va., Tech schedules released
Cavs will play host to archrivals Jan. 15, head to Blacksburg on Feb. 18
The Virginia and Virginia Tech men’s basketball schedules for the 2018-19 season were announced Thursday, as the ACC released its conference schedule.
The Cavaliers will open ACC play at home against Florida State on Jan. 5 at 3 p.m. in a game that will be televised on ESPN2. U.Va. will then hit the road for games at Boston College (Jan. 9) and Clemson (Jan. 12) and return home Jan. 15 for its first game against Virginia Tech. It will tip off at 8 p.m. and be televised on regional affiliates.
The Cavaliers will open February with marquee home games against Miami (Feb. 2) and Duke (Feb. 9), with visits to follow from Notre Dame on Feb. 16 and Georgia Tech on Feb. 27.
Other notable ACC road games for U.Va. will include: Duke (Jan. 19), Notre Dame (Jan. 26), North Carolina (Feb. 11), Louisville (Feb. 23) and Syracuse (March 4).
The Hokies open conference play at home against Notre Dame on Jan. 1. The 1 p.m. game will air on ESPNU. The Irish come to Blacksburg on Feb. 23 for a 4 p.m. game.
As part of the ACC schedule, the Hokies will play three “Big Monday” games on ESPN. They will visit North Carolina on Jan. 21; host Louisville on Feb. 4; and host Virginia on Feb. 18 for those games.
Tech also will play home and away games against Georgia Tech and Miami. Other visitors to Cassell Coliseum include Boston College (Jan. 5), Wake Forest (Jan. 19), Syracuse (Jan. 26) and Duke (Feb. 26).
