72, of Doswell, passed away on Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 7, 2018. He was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents, Vir­ginia C. Mal­lory and H. W. Mal­lory Sr.; and his first wife, Su­san J. Law­son. Left to cher­ish his mem­ory are his daugh­ters, Mary M. Bo­rum (Her­man Duke Jr.) and Kathy M. Richard­son (Jessie); five grand­chil­dren, Bobby, Brax­ton, Jes­sica, Ja­son and Ginny; great­grand­daugh­ter, Tin­leigh; brother, H.W. Mal­lory Jr.; sis­ters, Juanita M. Ran­dolph (Ron) and Shirley M. Kyger (Erich); and two neph­ews, Ryan and Colin. Gene was an avid fish­er­man and hunter. He loved the out­doors, whether he was spend­ing time in his boat, hunt­ing in the woods, or plant­ing in his gar­den and har­vest­ing its bounty. Gene was a skilled mas­ter meat cut­ter, hav­ing worked at Colo­nial Stores, Ukrops, Safe­way and Food Lion for over 40 years. He was also a gifted me­chanic, al­ways will­ing to help oth­ers by work­ing on their lawn­mow­ers, boats or cars. Gene was "a good guy" and he will be missed. The fam­ily will re­ceive friends on Fri­day, Novem­ber 9, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Woody Fu­neral Home - Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., Me­chan­icsville, Va. 23116, where a fu­neral ser­vice will be held on Satur­day at 2 p.m. In­ter­ment will fol­low in Sig­nal Hill Me­mo­rial Park. In lieu of flow­ers, me­mo­rial do­na­tions may be made to the Vir­ginia De­part­ment of Game & In­land Fish­eries, P.O. Box 90778, Hen­rico, Va. 23228.
