GECAC of­fers schol­ar­ships

Give Ev­ery Child a Chance (GECAC) is once again of­fer­ing the Ser­vice Chal­lenge Scholarship. Schol­ar­ships range from $250 to $1,000.

Schol­ar­ships are avail­able to grad­u­at­ing se­niors from Man­teca, Ripon and Tracy uni­fied school dis­tricts. In 2017, nine schol­ar­ships were awarded.

▶Scholarship is open to all grad­u­at­ing se­niors who vol­un­teered at Give Ev­ery Child A Chance within the past 4 years. Vol­un­teer ser­vice hours with Give Ev­ery Child a Chance can be in any ca­pac­ity such as tu­tor­ing, pro­gram aide, of­fice as­sis­tant, work­ing a fundraiser or spe­cial event. Num­ber/amount of vol­un­teer hours with GECAC is not a fac­tor to ap­ply.

▶No min­i­mum grade point av­er­age is re­quired.

Ap­pli­ca­tions are avail­able at high school coun­sel­ing of­fices, on the GECAC web­site or can be ob­tained by con­tact­ing Chuck Crutch­field at the GECAC Com­mu­nity Out­reach Of­fice at 823-6532 or ccrutch­field@

All com­pleted ap­pli­ca­tions must be turned into the ap­pli­cant’s high school coun­sel­ing of­fice or to the GECAC Com­mu­nity Out­reach Of­fice, 610 Com­merce Court, by April 1.
