St. James Con­cert Se­ries Presents Trimu­sica

The St. James Con­cert Se­ries cel­e­brates the open­ing of its 38th sea­son with the re­turn of pop­u­lar artist, cel­list Su­san Lamb Cook, this time with two of her friends. TriMu­sica, a clar­inet, cello and pi­ano trio, presents a pro­gram with works by Bruch, Mozart, Juon, and Brahms.

TriMu­sica – Clas­si­cal Trio will per­form at The Red Church in Sonora on Sun­day, Sept. 24 at 3 p.m.

Tick­ets prices for adults are $15; stu­dents un­der 18, price is $ 6.

Su­san Lamb Cook is an ac­tive per­former and ed­u­ca­tor both na­tion­ally and in­ter­na­tion­ally. She is sought af­ter as soloist and cham­ber mu­si­cian, and her per­for­mances have thrilled au­di­ences through­out Europe, the Far East, and the United States. Cook is a mem­ber of the Cal­i­for­nia As­so­ci­a­tion of Pro­fes­sional Mu­sic Teach­ers, Mu­sic Teach­ers’ As­so­ci­a­tion of Cal­i­for­nia, and the Amer­i­can String Teach­ers As­so­ci­a­tion. She is also co-au­thor of Guide to Teach­ing Strings by Nor­man Lamb. She is di­rec­tor of the Sacramento Youth Sym­phony’s Cham­ber Mu­sic Work­shop, and her stu­dents per­form reg­u­larly for com­pe­ti­tions and pub­lic con­certs.

For this per­for­mance, she is joined by mu­si­cian friends San­dra Moats McPher­son and John Cozza.

San­dra Moats McPher­son, clar­inet, per­forms fre­quently as prin­ci­pal clar­inetist and bass clar­inetist in nu­mer­ous North­ern Cal­i­for­nia or­ches­tras, in­clud­ing the Sacramento Phil­har­monic, Opera, and Choral So­ci­ety Or­ches­tras. For the past two sum­mers, she per­formed or­ches­tral and cham­ber mu­sic in Eisen­stadt and Vi­enna, Aus­tria as part of the an­nual Clas­si­cal Mu­sic Fes­ti­val. McPher­son has ex­ten­sive ex­pe­ri­ence as a cham­ber mu­sic per­former and coach, and, as a mem­ber of the Har­monic Winds, per­forms ed­u­ca­tional con­certs through­out the re­gion. She has also per­formed at the Crocker Art Mu­seum Sun­day Se­ries, Sacramento State’s Fes­ti­val of New Amer­i­can Mu­sic, Cham­ber Mu­sic Alive!, and the Cap­i­tal Cham­ber Play­ers Se­ries.

John Cozza is in de­mand through­out Cal­i­for­nia as teacher, coach/ac­com­pa­nist, cham­ber mu­si­cian, ad­ju­di­ca­tor and clin­i­cian; he teaches ac­com­pa­ny­ing and pi­ano in the Con­ser­va­tory of Mu­sic at the Univer­sity of the Pa­cific in Stock­ton, as well as hold­ing the po­si­tion of Staff Ac­com­pa­nist at Sacramento State Univer­sity. Cozza is the cur­rent Pres­i­dent of the Sacramento Satur­day Club, the old­est mu­si­cal or­ga­ni­za­tion in Sacramento, and one of the old­est west of the Rock­ies.

The St. James Con­cert Se­ries is ded­i­cated to bring­ing clas­si­cal, semi­clas­si­cal, folk and jazz to the Mother­lode. With that pur­pose in mind, the Se­ries of­fers this sea­son’s sched­ule of six con­certs which, in ad­di­tion to TriMu­sica, will present the Sing-along Mes­siah on Dec. 10; Golden Bough Celtic En­sem­ble on Jan. 28, 2018; LukyCuZn Brass en­sem­ble on March 11; Nat­suki Fuka­sawa, pi­anist, on April 15; and Joy Wil­low and Paula Crist, so­pra­nos, on May 20.

The Mes­siah will be held at the 49er Church in Columbia; all other Se­ries con­certs are held at the Red Church.
