Spring Sports Teams Bat­tling League, Post­sea­son Foes

River­bank’s ten­nis coach Bruce Ed­wards re­ported that the Bruin team con­tin­ued its run in the mid­dle of playoffs for the Divi­sion II Cham­pi­onships. This past Wednesday, he said, they beat Water­ford in the first round, 9-0.

On Mon­day, May 7 they were sched­uled to be at home fac­ing Arg­onaut in the sec­ond round. If they won that match, they will play to­day, May 9, for the cham­pi­onship in Stock­ton.

Ear­lier, in sin­gles and dou­bles Sec­tion play at Oak Park in Stock­ton, Alon­dra Ibarra and Se­lena Gar­cia fin­ished third in girls dou­bles, Alex Al­faro placed fourth in boys sin­gles and Luis de la San­tos and Je­sus Aguiniga teamed up to place fourth in boys dou­bles. Ed­wards noted that this re­sult was the most num­ber of medals won by River­bank teams in Sec­tion Ten­nis.

Bruin Base­ball

In ac­tion dur­ing the past week, River­bank’s var­sity base­ball team lost a pair of games. Both con­tests were played against the Ripon In­di­ans, in a ‘home and away’ series. They fell in the games by scores of 10-4 and 7-2, re­spec­tively.

The boys fin­ish their sea­son at home tonight, Wednesday, May 7 with Se­nior Recog­ni­tion, against Modesto Chris­tian High School.

Soft­ball Girls

The Lady Bru­ins were to fin­ish out their sea­son at home yes­ter­day, Tues­day, May 8, with Se­nior Recog­ni­tion ac­tiv­i­ties, also against Modesto Chris­tian.
