Com­mu­nity Hospice Re­leases Fall/Holiday Events Cal­en­dar

A num­ber of spe­cial events and ac­tiv­i­ties have been planned through Com­mu­nity Hospice, with ev­ery­thing from golf to learn­ing cop­ing skills among the of­fer­ings.

Golf Fore Com­mu­nity Hospice is set for Mon­day, Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Del Rio Coun­try Club, 801 Ste­wart Road, Modesto. This Com­mu­nity Hospice Foun­da­tion golf tour­na­ment fundraiser ben­e­fits the pa­tients, fam­i­lies and pro­grams of Com­mu­nity Hospice. The tour­na­ment will fol­low a four per­son scram­ble for­mat. Golfers will en­joy a fun­filled day on the greens, lunch, din­ner and silent and live auc­tions. Cop­ing With The Hol­i­days is sched­uled for Mon­day, Nov. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Com­mu­nity Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto.

The hol­i­days are of­ten the most dif­fi­cult time of the year for those who have lost a loved one. Com­mu­nity Hospice is host­ing a free work­shop to help those in the com­mu­nity cope with their grief dur­ing the hol­i­days. Par­tic­i­pants will re­ceive in­for­ma­tion to help them un­der­stand what they are ex­pe­ri­enc­ing and learn cop­ing skills. The pro­gram will close with a memo­rial can­dle light­ing cer­e­mony. Fan­tasy of Trees/Santa Shares Break­fast runs both Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at the Gallo Cen­ter for the Arts, 1000 I St., Modesto.

The de­signer dec­o­rated tree and wreath auc­tion, holiday lun­cheon and bou­tique will be of­fered on Fri­day, Nov. 30 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with lunch at noon.

The Santa Shares Break­fast event is Satur­day, Dec. 1 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The 33rd An­nual Light Up a Life Holiday Tree Light­ing is on the sched­ule for Sun­day, Dec. 2 at 5 p.m., hosted at Memo­rial Med­i­cal Cen­ter, 1700 Cof­fee Road, Modesto. The big evergreen tree, at the cor­ner of Cof­fee Road and Brig­gsmore Av­enue in Modesto, is lit to honor, cel­e­brate and re­mem­ber loved ones. Sym­bolic lights and or­na­ments are avail­able for a nom­i­nal do­na­tion. Im­me­di­ately fol­low­ing the cer­e­mony, re­fresh­ments will be avail­able at a free com­mu­nity re­cep­tion. Com­mu­nity Hospice is the largest and old­est non­profit hospice agency in the Cen­tral Val­ley. Serv­ing the com­mu­nity since 1979, Com­mu­nity Hospice has cared for thou­sands of friends and neigh­bors of­fer­ing com­pas­sion­ate and qual­ity care, ed­u­ca­tion and sup­port to ter­mi­nally ill pa­tients and fam­i­lies, re­gard­less of abil­ity to pay.
