TV Top Picks This Week
Don’t Miss: “The Hollow Crown: The Wars of the Roses” — This lavish three-part follow-up to the awardwinning 2012 production is based on Shakespeare’s “Henry VI” (Parts 1 and 2) and “Richard III.” An allstar cast that includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Judi Dench and Hugh Bonneville helps bring to life the bloody conflict between the Lancasters and Yorks in the 1400s for the English throne. 9 p.m. Sunday, PBS. Other bets: Sunday: “The Walking Dead” goes on hiatus after tonight’s midseason finale and we’re actually thrilled. Who, after all, doesn’t need a break from the oppression and brutality that evil Negan has wrought? 9 p.m., AMC. Monday: And you thought “America’s Next Top Model” was dead. Nope. The modeling contest has been revived for another run with a new host — singer-actress Rita Ora. Time to start “smizing” again. 10 p.m., VH1. Tuesday: On “The Real O’Neals,” Eileen will stop at nothing to win the Christmas choir competition, even if it means giving the coveted solo to the choir’s newest member, instead of her son, Kenny. Expect things to get ugly … and funny. 9:30 p.m., ABC.
Wednesday: “Star” is a new music-infused drama from “Empire” creator Lee Daniels that follows a threeheaded girl group (Jude Demorest, Brittany O’Grady and Ryan Destiny) trying to make it big in Atlanta. The cast also includes Queen Latifah. 9 p.m., Fox. Thursday: Elvis Duran is our host for the “IHeartRadio Jingle Ball” from New York’s Madison Square Garden. The musical acts include Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Fifth Harmony, Charlie Puth and many more.
8 p.m., The CW.
