A sec­ond day of Kinder­garten Roundup for Floyd County

Schools will be held to­day. Par­ents and their chil­dren can visit their prospec­tive schools from noon to 6 p.m. to have chil­dren screened for kinder­garten. Stu­dents must turn 5 years old on or be­fore Sept. 1, 2017, to en­roll this fall. If you’re out of dis­trict, please con­tact the school that you are in­ter­ested in for the nec­es­sary forms. The eight par­tic­i­pat­ing schools are Alto Park Ele­men­tary, Cave Spring Ele­men­tary, Gar­den Lakes Ele­men­tary, Glen­wood Pri­mary, John­son Ele­men­tary, McHenry Pri­mary, Model Ele­men­tary and Pep­perell Pri­mary.

The Ro­tary Club of Rome will host Ge­or­gia Ro­tary Stu­dent Pro­gram Ro­tary schol­ar­ship re­cip­i­ent Camilla Moreno’s fi­nal pre­sen­ta­tion to­day at noon. Moreno is a stu­dent from Colom­bia and will dis­cuss her ex­pe­ri­ences at­tend­ing Berry Col­lege. The club meets at Coosa Coun­try Club, 110 Bran­ham Av­enue.

The Floyd County Board of Ed­u­ca­tion will have a called board meet­ing to­day at 9:45 a.m. in the board room, 600 River­side Park­way. The board is ex­pected to ap­prove per­son­nel changes, dis­cuss the bud­get and dis­cuss the 2018-2019 cal­en­dar.

The South­ern Belles Book Club will meet to­day at Swift & Finch on Broad Street from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The club is open to new mem­bers. For more in­for­ma­tion email souther­belles­book­club@gmail.com.
