WHAT’S HAPPENING TODAY
A second day of Kindergarten Roundup for Floyd County
Schools will be held today. Parents and their children can visit their prospective schools from noon to 6 p.m. to have children screened for kindergarten. Students must turn 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2017, to enroll this fall. If you’re out of district, please contact the school that you are interested in for the necessary forms. The eight participating schools are Alto Park Elementary, Cave Spring Elementary, Garden Lakes Elementary, Glenwood Primary, Johnson Elementary, McHenry Primary, Model Elementary and Pepperell Primary.
The Rotary Club of Rome will host Georgia Rotary Student Program Rotary scholarship recipient Camilla Moreno’s final presentation today at noon. Moreno is a student from Colombia and will discuss her experiences attending Berry College. The club meets at Coosa Country Club, 110 Branham Avenue.
The Floyd County Board of Education will have a called board meeting today at 9:45 a.m. in the board room, 600 Riverside Parkway. The board is expected to approve personnel changes, discuss the budget and discuss the 2018-2019 calendar.
The Southern Belles Book Club will meet today at Swift & Finch on Broad Street from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The club is open to new members. For more information email email@example.com.
