Woman charged with fi­nan­cial trans­ac­tion card theft, fraud

A Rome woman was in jail with­out bond Mon­day night af­ter be­ing ac­cused of tak­ing fi­nan­cial trans­ac­tion cards and wal­lets from two vic­tims, and rack­ing up al­most $1,000 in charges with one of their cards.

Ac­cord­ing to Floyd County Jail re­ports:

Amanda Kath­leen Davis, 27, of 10 Mi­ami Drive, was ar­rested Mon­day. On Sept. 18, she took the first woman’s wal­let from a Red­mond Cir­cle ad­dress around 11:30 a.m. The wal­let, val­ued at $50, had $90 in­side, along with cards for two banks.

On Oct. 23, she took another woman’s wal­let. She used the stolen card to make a $418.16 pur­chase at Publix, 435 Turner McCall Blvd., and a $529.55 pur­chase at Wal­greens, 701 Martha Berry Blvd. She also at­tempted to use the card twice at a Rite Aid Phar­macy.

Davis is charged with three felony counts of fi­nan­cial trans­ac­tion card theft and two counts of fi­nan­cial trans­ac­tion card fraud. She is ad­di­tion­ally charged with two mis­de­meanor counts of theft by tak­ing.
