Woman charged with financial transaction card theft, fraud
A Rome woman was in jail without bond Monday night after being accused of taking financial transaction cards and wallets from two victims, and racking up almost $1,000 in charges with one of their cards.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Amanda Kathleen Davis, 27, of 10 Miami Drive, was arrested Monday. On Sept. 18, she took the first woman’s wallet from a Redmond Circle address around 11:30 a.m. The wallet, valued at $50, had $90 inside, along with cards for two banks.
On Oct. 23, she took another woman’s wallet. She used the stolen card to make a $418.16 purchase at Publix, 435 Turner McCall Blvd., and a $529.55 purchase at Walgreens, 701 Martha Berry Blvd. She also attempted to use the card twice at a Rite Aid Pharmacy.
Davis is charged with three felony counts of financial transaction card theft and two counts of financial transaction card fraud. She is additionally charged with two misdemeanor counts of theft by taking.
