Fourth Ave. Breakfast at 8 a.m. in the Caucus Room, Suite 204, with local Floyd County State Legislator­s followed by a 2018 budget workshop at noon. Caucus will be at 2 p.m. in the Commission­ers Caucus Room, Suite 204, followed by the Board Meeting at 4 p.m. The meetings are open to the public.

The Telephone Retirees will have their monthly meeting and Thanksgivi­ng dinner today at 11 a.m. at the Charles C. Parker Senior Center, 1325 Kingston Highway. Bring a large covered dish and dessert. 36 Reeceburg Road, Silver Creek, will be a collection point for Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse which collects shoe boxes filled with gifts for children and distribute­s them around the world. Collection dates and times are Monday from 4-6 p.m., Tuesday from 10 a.m.-noon, Wednesday from 6-8 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m.-noon, Friday from 4-6 p.m., Nov. 18 from 10 a.m.-noon, Nov. 19 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., and Nov. 20 from 10 a.m.-noon.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office will be accepting applicatio­ns for the

Sheriff’s Santa Program at Good Neighbor Ministries, 208 E. Second St., Monday through Friday, Nov. 13-17. Applicatio­ns for children ages 0-15 must be submitted in person from 1-5 p.m. Applicants must submit a valid Georgia driver’s license or government-issued ID, children’s birth certificat­es or Social Security cards, court-ordered custody documents and/ or DFCS paperwork. Applicatio­ns cannot be taken during regular business hours at Good Neighbor Ministries or the Sheriff’s Office locations. Restoratio­n Lindale Inc. is selling bulbs for the Star Between the Stacks for $20 each through Nov. 28. Area artists, florists, garden clubs, businesses, interior designers and creative individual­s have joined Cancer Navigators Inc. and the Harbin Clinic Cancer Center to create and sell original holiday wreaths. Wreaths are on display at the cancer center from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and at the Wright Art Gallery at Floyd Medical Center. The silent auction will end at 1 p.m. on Nov. 30. PAWS, 99 North Ave., is waiving adoption fees through Dec. 15 when you bring in a new, unwrapped children’s toy. Toys will be distribute­d to local groups including Floyd County Sheriff’s Santa, Angel Tree, Salvation Army and Toys for Tots. Donations of toys without adoption also will be accepted. Adoptive families will still be responsibl­e for spay or neuter and vaccinatio­n costs.

The Friends of the Library are currently offering their annual Christmas gift auction at the Rome-Floyd County Library, 205 Riverside Parkway. Floyd County Superior Court Clerk

Barbara H. Penson requests that veterans of all military branches of service be sure their DD-214 discharge is recorded at the courthouse. Veterans may record their DD-214 in Floyd County in addition to their hometown, county or state. Bring a DD-214 to the Clerk of Superior Court’s Office, 3 Government Plaza, Suite 101, to have it recorded for Floyd County. This is a free service for all veterans.
