Police: Man started fire near gas station

A Rome man accused of waving a burning bandana around a gas station on Turner McCall Boulevard was in jail without bond Sunday night.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Michael DeWayne Green, 38, of 6 Tumlin Drive, set trash and boxes on fire next to the Texaco convenienc­e store, 507 Turner McCall Blvd., Saturday around 5:30 p.m. and waved a burning bandana. He also was cursing, yelling and throwing full cans of beer at the store window.

Green had methamphet­amine and a glass pipe on him when police arrested him. At the jail, he turned over three white pills, suspected olanzapine, that were in his pocket.

He is charged with the felonies possession of meth and crossing the county guard line with drugs.

He is also facing misdemeano­r charges of reckless

conduct, disorderly conduct, drugs not in the original container, possession of a drug-related object and possession of dangerous drugs.
