Rome man dies in Fri­day wreck

Floyd County au­thor­i­ties have iden­ti­fied the vic­tim of an early morn­ing wreck Fri­day at Kingston Road and Vet­er­ans Me­mo­rial By­pass as The­rian Smith, 76, of Rome.

Smith was at­tempt­ing to make a right turn from Kingston Road west­bound onto the by­pass when he pulled in front of a trac­tor­trailer that was also west­bound on the by­pass.

Deputy Coro­ner Con­nie Chan­dler said Smith, who was a re­tired teacher at the River­side School in Rome and Adairsville Mid­dle School, was pro­nounced dead from blunt force trauma.

Cou­ple charged with in­tent to distribute Rome man jailed on felony pot charge Woman ac­cused of false im­pris­on­ment

A Sum­merville cou­ple has been jailed in Rome af­ter a traf­fic stop on Martha Berry High­way that re­sulted in the re­cov­ery of about four ounces of mar­i­juana.

Ac­cord­ing to Floyd County Jail re­ports:

Ni­cholas Lloyd Tram­mell, 36, and Kandice Adair Tram­mell, 33, both of 156 Crow St., Sum­merville, were ar­rested Fri­day in the 6200 block of Martha Berry High­way by Floyd County Po­lice.

Both were charged with felony counts of pos­ses­sion of mar­i­juana with the in­tent to distribute and felony pos­ses­sion of mar­i­juana.

Ni­cholas Tram­mell also faces a felony pa­role vi­o­la­tion and is be­ing held in the jail with­out bond.

Kandice Tram­mell was also charged with driv­ing on a sus­pended li­cense and driv­ing with­out in­sur­ance, both mis­de­meanors, and is be­ing held in jail pend­ing a $16,700 bond.

A Rome man faces nu­mer­ous charges af­ter al­legedly at­tempt­ing to flee from po­lice who at­tempted a traf­fic stop for fail­ing to obey a yield sign.

Ac­cord­ing to Floyd County Jail re­ports:

Pa­trick Cortez Turner, 33, of 22 Ta­massee Lane, was ar­rested and charged with felony pos­ses­sion of mar­i­juana af­ter more than an ounce of pot was found in his car af­ter he fi­nally stopped for po­lice Fri­day night just af­ter 11 p.m.

Po­lice re­ported that Turner was seen run­ning a stop sign at Waters and Gra­ham streets. He also failed to sig­nal when he got onto Martha Berry Boule­vard and was taken into cus­tody a short time later.

In ad­di­tion to the felony drug charges, Turner faces sev­eral mis­de­meanor traf­fic charges and has been re­leased from jail on $5,700 bond.

A West Rome woman faces a felony false im­pris­on­ment charge af­ter re­port­edly as­sault­ing a 28-year-old Rome man and re­fus­ing to al­low him to leave a home on Brook­wood Av­enue

Ac­cord­ing to Floyd County Jail re­ports:

Kayniesha Ne­shae Mont­gomery, 22, of 82 Brook­wood Ave., was charged with false im­pris­on­ment and a mis­de­meanor for bat­tery af­ter she caused vis­i­ble in­juries to the vic­tim’s neck and arm dur­ing the al­ter­ca­tion Fri­day af­ter­noon.

Mont­gomery has been re­leased from jail on $2,600 bond.
