Vandalism at parking deck

Someone vandalized the parking gate kiosk at the parking deck at 212 S. Center Street Tuesday evening.

Police said they found someone smashed the glass facing of the kiosk, causing $1,800 in damage.

Man caught stealing firewood from outside gas station

A Royal Oak officer on patrol saw a man drive up to a closed gas station and load three bundles of firewood into his vehicle and drive off.

The incident happened about 4 a.m. Wednesday at the Sunoco station at 1808 Crooks Road.

Police did a traffic stop and arrested the suspect for larceny. The firewood is worth about $20.

The suspect is from Chicago but told police he is currently staying in Detroit.

He admitted he stole the firewood, police said.
