For area residents dreaming of a pet cat or dog at their home, the Oakland County Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center offers pet adoptions at reduced fees through Friday, courtesy of Bissell and its Empty the Shelters promotion. Fees normally set at $139.50 for dogs have been reduced to $25, and the usual fee for cats of $57.50 has been reduced to $15; Wednesday, Dec. 9 through Friday, Dec. 11, according to a press release. Prospective pet owners may visit the website to view pets available at OakGov.com/PetAdoption, and call 248-858-1070 to schedule an appointment. The pet adoption center is open by appointment-only from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. daily, due to COVID-19. Approximately 25 dogs and 70 cats are available for adoption. Some of the dogs will be adopted through a rescue organization. All the animals are microchipped and spayed or neutered.
