Shelter offers reduced pet adoption fees

For area residents dreaming of a pet cat or dog at their home, the Oakland County Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center offers pet adoptions at reduced fees through Friday, courtesy of Bissell and its Empty the Shelters promotion. Fees normally set at $139.50 for dogs have been reduced to $25, and the usual fee for cats of $57.50 has been reduced to $15; Wednesday, Dec. 9 through Friday, Dec. 11, according to a press release. Prospectiv­e pet owners may visit the website to view pets available at OakGov.com/PetAdoptio­n, and call 248-858-1070 to schedule an appointmen­t. The pet adoption center is open by appointmen­t-only from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. daily, due to COVID-19. Approximat­ely 25 dogs and 70 cats are available for adoption. Some of the dogs will be adopted through a rescue organizati­on. All the animals are microchipp­ed and spayed or neutered.
