Enjoy the theater again with these weekend productions
The pandemic has dropped the curtain on live theater, especially for indoor shows, but the theater community has not come to a full stop. Check out what’s treading the “boards” this weekend, if virtually.
• Royal Oak’s Stagecrafters
Youth Theatre will present “A (Virtual) Christmas Carol,” telling the Dickens tale starting at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11, via cast videos and phone calls. The show will be available via Facebook and YouTube, with donations suggested. Visit stagecrafters.org for links and other information.
• “A West End Christmas 2020 — A Magical Christmas” features a cast of 80 and a 17-piece orchestra from St. Paul’s Church in London’s Covent Garden, Friday through Sunday, Dec. 11-13, via broadwayondemand.com. Tickets are $14.95 with proceeds benefiting a COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund for theater community actors and crew.
• British comedian John Cooper Clark hosts “I Wanna Be Yours At Christmas: An Evening of Festival Poetry and Laughs” at noon Saturday, Dec. 12, via johncooperclarke. myshopify.com. The event will raise money for a local food bank and art center.
• Interlochen Arts Academy streams a full-production version of “The Nutcracker” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, via live.interlochen.org.
