A Madison Heights man is jailed on a $510,000 bond after allegedly attacking his parents with a knife — after being asked to stop playing video games, according to multiple reports.

Christopher Winfield McKinney, who spent his 29th birthday in the Oakland County Jail, is charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder, according to jail records.

He was booked into jail on Monday evening, after Madison Heights were called to bloodied home.

Since then, the man’s stepfather has died.

The Detroit Free Press reports that McKinney’s mother, 66, and stepfather, 71, argued with their son because they wanted to go to bed, leading to the son striking the parents. The stepfather tried to use a knife to defend himself, but it was taken and both parents were stabbed.

WDIV- 4 reports that the father died four days after the Dec. 11 attack, which started when the parents had asked the son to leave their bedroom, where he was playing video games, but he refused.

Both reports indicated that McKinney also fought with a fire official who had responded to the scene.

Jail records also indicate he has had prior criminal cases in Macomb County, including assault and battery, drunken driving, and a charge involving a stolen car.
