State reports more than 4,200 new infections

Total reaches 488,144, deaths now at 12,333

Michigan reported 4,222 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, bringing the state’s total to 488,144 total cases since the onset of the pandemic. Wednesday’s report is the last of 2020.

Additional­ly, 51 new deaths were reported in the state, putting the total death toll at 12,333.

Oakland County had the highest caseload in the Metro Detroit area once again, with 344 new confirmed cases and four new deaths.

Neighborin­g Wayne County, excluding Detroit, reported 322 new cases and nine new deaths.

Within Detroit city limits, 127 new cases were reported. An adjustment was made to the city’s total deaths, subtractin­g one to

put the city’s total at 1,691.

Macomb County reported 293 new cases, with four new deaths.

Within mid-Michigan,

Gratiot County reported the highest caseload with 61 cases, while reporting 2 COVID-19 deaths.

Isabella County saw 15 new cases, while Clare County saw five. Neither county deaths. other with Kent 317 triple- reported County new digit cases. any saw increase new an- Ottawa new cases, County Ingham reported County 149 reported 110 new cases, and Genesee reported 108. Michigan will not release COVID-19 numbers for today or Friday, Jan. 1 due to the holiday. A three- day report will be released Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021.
