RADAR STANDS ALONE

SAIL - - New Boats -

Furuno’s new 1815 radar package looks ideal for boats that don’t have integrated electronics systems or for sailors who just want an uncomplicated installation. The standalone unit comprises a 19in, 4kw radome and a compact display with an 8.4in color LCD screen. With a 24nm range, it shares much of the technology found in Furuno’s bigger radars. Up to 10 targets can be tracked manually or automatically via Fast Target Tracking, and moving targets leave a colorful trail so you can tell at a glance which way they are headed. If the 1815 is connected to a Furuno AIS, up to 100 targets can be tracked and displayed. Importantly for sailboats, power consumption is frugal at just 38W. $2,495. Furuno, furuno.com
