Suspect in drive-by shooting turns self in
The man accused of killing a 34-year-old woman in a driveby shooting on the Northeast Side turned himself in to San Antonio police Friday morning.
Tyrend Ryshawn White, 25, who was charged with murder, is accused of opening fire on two teens sitting outside a home in the 4000 block of Coral Sunrise around 11:15 a.m. on Thursday.
A bullet struck Janice Crawford, mother of one of the teens, who was in her bedroom inside the house, killing her. The teenagers were not harmed.
White turned himself into police at 8 a.m. Friday.
“He told me he had seen his face on TV and at that point he knew he was going to turn himself in,” said Sgt. Carlos Ortiz, an SAPD spokesman.
As he was escorted to a squad car that would take him to the Bexar County Jail for booking, White took the opportunity to promote his music and a new YouTube music video. He did not comment on his arrest, saying only that it was God’s plan.
“This is God’s will,” he said. “I’m going to let God have them arrest me.”
