John Francis Henry

-

March 12, 1934 - September 21, 2015

John Henry, 81, of Novato, CA, left this earth peacefully, surrounded by family at his home in Novato, California on September 21st, 2015. A native San Franciscan, born to Jack and Claire Henry on March 12, 1934, he graduated from Poly High School, attended San Francisco City College and continued his education at San Jose State University. John loved sports and played basketball throughout his school years and while he proudly served in the US Navy 1952-1956. One of his high school claims to fame was when, as a sophomore, he made an 80 foot shot from the sideline at Kezar Pavillion. Though it didn’t count, he loved telling the story which got better each time!

John loved people, never knew a stranger, was a trivia master, and a champion story teller who always got a laugh. We will remember him for his gift of living each day to the fullest, joyfully, with no regrets, no what-ifs & no worries.

John is survived by his loving wife Bobbie, daughter Bess, son Matt, sister Patricia and his three grandchildren Finnegan, Connor and Hudson. He’ll also be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews, sistersin-law, brothers-in-law and a legion of friends.

A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, September 30th, 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church, 1806 Novato Blvd, Novato, with a reception to follow at the home of his sister. Directions to the reception will be available at the service. Any questions, please email bess475@gmail.com. If you are unable to attend, please consider sending a special memory or story about John to be included in album for each of his grandsons.

We are thankful for the wonderful care, friendship and love provided to John by all of our friends, family, his amazing caregiver, Bola, and the incredible people at Hospice By The Bay.
