Write a letter every day

San Francisco Chronicle Late Edition - - FROM THE COVER -

I was inspired by Joe Garofoli’s “Trump foe urges ‘acts of daily resistance’ ” ( Jan. 12): My daily act of resistance will be to send a handwritten letter each day to a legislator about a topic of concern to me. This includes the protection of the Affordable Care Act, funding for Planned Parenthood and women’s reproductive rights in general, the rights of immigrants to seek a better life in the United States, LGBTQ rights, and the need to address climate change.

Unfortunately, the list of concerns under a Donald Trump presidency is a long one. Sure, my one letter a day is not likely to make a difference, but what if others joined me in this effort? It feels better to take some sort of action than to passively sit and worry about a very uncertain future. Cathy Somerton, San Carlos
