IndyCar to fin­ish at Sonoma again

The Grand Prix of Sonoma will again have a chance to de­cide the IndyCar Se­ries cham­pion as the cir­cuit’s fi­nal stop.

IndyCar re­leased its 2018 sched­ule, with St. Peters­burg, Fla., host­ing the opener of the 17-race sea­son on March 11 and Sonoma Race­way host­ing the fi­nale on Sept. 16. The In­di­anapo­lis 500 is May 27.

Ten­nis: Rafael Nadal won his 14th con­sec­u­tive match to reach the Shang­hai Masters quar­ter­fi­nals, beat­ing Fabio Fognini of Italy 6-3, 6-1. Roger Fed­erer, seeded sec­ond to Nadal, de­feated Ukrainian qual­i­fier Alexandr Dol­go­polov 6-4, 6-2.

The WTA says Jo­hanna Konta (left foot in­jury) has with­drawn from the Krem­lin Cup next week, mean­ing Caro­line Gar­cia has se­cured the eighth and last berth in the WTA fi­nals.

NBA: Blake Grif­fin played 25 min­utes and fin­ished with 18 points and four as­sists to help the Clip­pers beat the vis­it­ing Kings 104-87 in a pre­sea­son game. Zach Ran­dolph led Sacra­mento with 14 points, four re­bounds and one block . ... Gian Clavell had 19 points, in­clud­ing five three-point­ers, and the vis­it­ing Mav­er­icks beat the Hawks 108-94.
