Shameful purge

Regarding “Let recruits serve nation” (Editorial, July 11): The Trump administration’s decision to purge our armed forces of foreign-born recruits is shameful. Anyone who enlists and honorably serves to protect and defend our country — and that includes transgender soldiers — should be allowed to continue to do so. Our military should reflect the diversity of the people living in the United States, not the anti-immigrant, anti-transgender mind-set of a commander in chief who avoided service during the Vietnam War for dubious reasons.
