Club’s ‘puppy play’ night turns 35 — in dog years

San Francisco Chronicle Late Edition - - ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT - — Ryan Kost

Pound Puppy, a SoMa dance party dedicated to queer kinksters who like some “puppy play” (and their friends), is turning 5 this month. Naturally, a celebration is in order, and the crew behind the event is happy to oblige.

On Saturday, Nov. 10, Pound Puppy plans to bring in Solar, a San Francisco DJ who is known best for the longrunning Sunset Sound System as well as We Are Monsters, to headline the party. If you’re not familiar with Solar’s style, you can expect an eclectic mix of house and techno tracks — and a constantly packed dance floor.

You don’t need to be into puppy play to attend; there are plenty of folks who pack the SF Eagle every month for Pound Puppy who are just there to enjoy the music, the go-gos and the huge back patio. But if that is your kind of thing, you’ll be right at home in your collar and your mask.

As usual, residents Oscar Pineda and Kevin O’Connor will also be holding down the decks throughout the night. The invite suggests “that you prepare to punish the dance floor.” Pound Puppy: 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. $10. SF Eagle, 398 12th St., S.F. www.sf-eagle.com
