Lau­ryn Kroh Ben­ton

It is with great sad­ness that the fam­ily of Lau­ryn Kroh Ben­ton an­nounce her pass­ing, from a long ill­ness, on Au­gust 27, 2018 at the age of 74. Beloved wife of Ever­est Ben­ton; lov­ing mother of James (Su­san) and David (April) and car­ing grand­mother of four grand­chil­dren: Beck­ett, Asher, Keats and Elle. She is also sur­vived by her sis­ter, Lynne Beren­broick, of Leo­nia, New Jer­sey.

She was born in Wee­hawken, New Jer­sey in 1943 to Lawrence and Eve­lyn Kroh. Af­ter grad­u­at­ing from Jer­sey City State Col­lege in 1968 with a Mas­ters de­gree in Math Ed­u­ca­tion and teach­ing cer­tifi­cate, she started teach­ing at Cliff­side Park High School.

In 1970 she moved west to Foster City, Cal­i­for­nia, pur­chased a Fire­bird and of­fi­cially be­came a “Cal­i­for­nia Girl”. She be­gan teach­ing at Carl­mont High School in Bel­mont. For over 30 years she taught at Terra Nova High School in Pacifica un­til her re­tire­ment in 2006. Lau­ryn was a kind and lov­ing teacher who was re­mem­bered fondly by stu­dents and col­leagues alike.

She has been a mem­ber of the First Pres­by­te­rian Church of Burlingame for nearly 30 years and leaves be­hind nu­mer­ous dear friends made dur­ing bi­ble stud­ies, com­mit­tee meet­ings, and while hold­ing ba­bies in the nurs­ery.

We would like to thank the care­givers at Sun­rise of Burlingame for their nur­tur­ing care and friend­ship, as well as the staff at Mis­sion Hospice for their lov­ing at­ten­tion in her fi­nal days.

A me­mo­rial ser­vice will be held at 3 PM, Satur­day, Septem­ber 22, 2018 at the First Pres­by­te­rian Church of Burlingame, 1500 Eas­ton Drive, Burlingame, Cal­i­for­nia.

In lieu of flow­ers, do­na­tions can be made to the First Pres­by­te­rian Church of Burlingame or the Terra Nova High School Ed­u­ca­tion Foun­da­tion.
