June Kiy­omoto Kita­gawa was born in Reed­ley, CA on June 6, 1929 and passed away Septem­ber 5, 2018 in Colma, CA. June was the youngest child of Tame­kichi Kiy­omoto and Sadame Mori. June spent her child­hood on her fam­ily’s pros­per­ous farm, along­side her brothers Yo­neo, Seyichi, and Ge­orge and sis­ters Grace, Marty, Dora, and May.

June com­pleted high school at the Pos­ton In­tern­ment Camp in Pos­ton, AZ dur­ing World War II. Af­ter­wards, she at­tended San Fran­cisco State Col­lege, work­ing as a house­keeper in ex­change for room and board. Af­ter grad­u­a­tion, June worked as a Med­i­cal Tech­nol­o­gist at Kaiser Per­ma­nente Hos­pi­tal. She mar­ried David Y. Kita­gawa in 1952 and they raised two won­der­ful sons, Lawrence J. “Larry” Kita­gawa and David J. “Bear” Kita­gawa. June would later re­tire from Kaiser in 1994, af­ter more than forty years of ser­vice.

June was an avid and faith­ful sports fan, cheer­ing for the San Fran­cisco Gi­ants, Golden State War­riors, and San Fran­cisco 49ers. She loved watch­ing Korean dra­mas and game shows as well as tend­ing to her gar­den. June also en­joyed spend­ing time with her grand­chil­dren, Lau­ren Miller (Robert) and Christina Honey­sett (Cole). She was well-known for her kind and car­ing na­ture, won­der­ful cook­ing, and most im­por­tantly, her love of fam­ily. June was a beloved wife, mother, grand­mother, sis­ter, aunt, and friend; she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. At June’s re­quest, there will be no ser­vice.
