The Wash­ing­ton Na­tion­als signed for­mer St. Louis Car­di­nals closer Trevor Rosen­thal to a one-year, $7 mil­lion con­tract with a con­di­tional op­tion for 2020.

Rosen­thal, who hasn’t pitched since 2017 af­ter

un­der­go­ing Tommy John surgery, can earn an ad­di­tional $8 mil­lion in per­for­mance bonuses.
