Emma L. Chan

San Francisco Chronicle - - LIFE TRIBUTES -

Emma was born in San Francisco, on January 14, 1928.

She was married to John Chan. With John, she traveled to the orient annually. After his passing, she continued taking trips to Hong Kong and the Far East to visit friends.

She worked as a legal secretary for a patent attorney until retirement. She also was a self-taught violinist and was known in Chinese musical circles as a highly skilled and talented performer.

Emma is survived by her sisters and their spouses Rose (Albert); Jane; Marion (Bob); Elizabeth (David); Tamara (Sidney); Cobina (Theron) and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Although she and John had no children, the apple of their eyes was their dog, Mei-Ling. The dog loved Emma but bit John anytime she got a chance.

Friends are welcome to attend the funeral on Friday, September 22 at 1 p.m in the chapel of Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 1000 El Camino Real Colma, CA 94014.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s; the SPCA; to the Red Cross for hurricane relief; or your favorite charity.
