Anigwe, David­son team for 44 points, lead Bears

Kris­tine Anigwe to­taled 26 points and 10 re­bounds and Pen­ina David­son added 18 points on 8-of-10 shoot­ing with nine boards to help the No. 24 Cal women hold off Washington 69-60 on Fri­day night in Berke­ley.

Anigwe and David­son com­bined to make 20 of 28 shots from the floor (71.4 per­cent), but the rest of the Bears shot just 23.5 per­cent (8-for-34). Asha Thomas added 14 points and eight as­sists and Mikayla Cowl­ing scored two points on 1-of-7 shoot­ing but added 11 as­sists, six re­bounds and three steals.

The Huskies trailed by two at half­time, but took a 32-31 lead at the start of the third on a Han­nah John­son three-pointer. Jenna Moser’s three stretched Washington’s lead to 37-33, but David­son scored five in an 11-0 run to give Cal a 44-37 lead mid­way through the pe­riod.

Cal had a 40-14 ad­van­tage in points in the paint.
