Richard “Dick” Cesarin

Dick passed away on the evening of December 31, 2017 with his devoted wife and family members by his side. He was born October 7, 1930 in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania to William and Enes Cesarin. He grew up in Redwood City. He attended Sequoia High School where he met the love of his life, Donna Lee Plumley. He was an All-Star athlete in football, basketball, and baseball where he earned Athlete of the Year obtaining eleven championship stripes.
Dick and Donna raised their three children, Craig, Cheryl, and Brett in Menlo Park. They all attended Nativity School where Dick was Athletic Director for 10 years. He served in the Menlo Park Fire District for 35 years where he ultimately retired as Assistant Chief. He was a second generation member of the Italian-American Club of Menlo Park and a lifetime member of the Palo Alto Elks Club. After retirement Dick and Donna moved to San Carlos enjoying travel, family gatherings and golf. Dick touched many lives as an athlete, coach, firefighter and “patriarch” of the Cesarin family.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Donna and his younger brother Severino “Reno” Cesarin and Dick and Donna’s sons Craig (Sheila), Brett, and daughter Cheryl (Dave), along with being a devoted “Pap-Pap” to his 6 grandchildren Amy, Justin, Marissa, Danielle, Paige, Scott and 5 greatgrandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Church of the Nativity 210 Oak Grove Ave, Menlo Park Saturday January 20, 2018 at 1:00pm.
