From The Santa Fe New Mexican: Feb. 12, 1968: LAS VEGAS, N.M. — Two Las Vegas teachers died last night in an apparent murder-suicide. Dr. H.M. Mortimer, Las Vegas physician, received a call around 10 p.m. from Edward J. Prochniak, a 60-year-old Highlands University instructor in electronics. Prochniak said he had just been shot by Mary E. Covington, 37, a teacher at Castle Junior High School.
