Rod has lived in Spr in­gville his en­tire life. His Par­ent’s pur­chased a busi­ness on Main Street in 1956 and was fam­ily owned for 49 years. Rod worked at this Phar­macy dur­ing his teenage years and this is where his love for Springville grew. Rod com­muted to Salt Lake City for over 25 years while work­ing for ZCMI where he was a buyer and later a Di­vi­sional Mer­chan­dise Man­ager in the cor­po­rate off ices. The de­cis io n to com­mute was ma d e for two rea­sons. One so his chi ldren would k now the i r g rand­par­ent s; and two, so they would be raised in Spr in­gville.

Rod is mar ried to Chris­tine Child Ol­droyd and they have four chil­dren and six and grand­chil­dren. All live in Spr in­gvil le ex­cept his son and fam­ily who are in Cal­i­for­nia.

Rod has al­ways had an in­ter­est in civic af­fai rs. He has served on the City Coun­cil. He has been on sev­eral Art City Days com­mit tees and the Gen­eral Chair­man for two years. He has been a for­mer mem­ber of the Springville Kiwanis Club and the Spr in­gville Play­house. He had served on both of their boards. He was most re­cently on the Nebo Board of Ed­u­ca­tion and served as Vice Pres­i­dent of that board. He works with Spr in­gville City as the Ad­min­ist rat ive Ser­vices Man­ager since 2008.

Rod has a lways been in­volved i n servi ng i n h is church i n var ious ca­pac­i­ties in­clud­ing Bishop and cur rently Stake Pres­i­dent.

Rod loves to do any­thing with his fam­ily, t ravel to St, Ge­orge, go golf ing a few times a year and be with the grand­chil­dren.

He i s em­ployed at Spr in­gvi l le City Cor­po­rat ion, where he is the Ad­min­ist ra­tive Ser­vices Man­ager. He en­joys those who he works with and the res­i­dents he works for. He has a great love for Springville City and the people who live there.
