USAF Golden West Winds performing at museum
The Spr ingville Museum of Ar t and the Spr ingville Ar ts Commission are pleased to announce that the USAF Golden West Winds will perform at a special concer t at the Museum on Sunday, April 27th at 4: 30 pm. This concer t is f ree to the public and all are welcome.
The Golden West Winds is par t of the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West from Travis Air Force Base, California. Comprised of f lut e , obo e , cla r ine t , French horn, and bass clarinet, this ensemble supports a wide variety of musical events ranging f rom mi l itary ceremonies and patr iotic shows to educational programs and recitals of or iginal work s for woodwind quintet. To support these events the Golden West Winds plays music of all styles including marches, jazz and classical music.
Tailoring ever y show to its audience, the Golden West Winds performs a variety of different community relations concer ts throughout the we s t e r n Uni t ed St a t e s. The group can per for m several comple tely di s t inc t ive shows a t any t ime. Thei r “Amer icana” show is suitable for any audience while the educat ional show is special ized young student s. The recital pro - gram is perfect for any concer t hall or chamber music ser ies.
The Golden West Winds’ innovative music education program allows the group to share their enthusiasm and expertise in a lively, interactive concer t presented t o elementar y students. For middle school through college school students, the quintet provides concer ts, clinics, and master classes. In this capacity, The Golden West Winds has performed at schools such as the University of Nevada Las Vegas and the University of Redlands. The ensemble’s recital show was featured in 2012 at the Camerata Musica concer t series as well as the College of the Siskiyous Performing Arts Ser ies.
The members of the Golden West Winds are all professional Air Force musicians working in support of Air Force and Air Mobility Command of f icial mi l itary recruit ing and community relations objectives.
