Springville Youth con­tinue to help build a strong com­mu­nity. On Septem­ber 16th, Springville Mayor Wil­ford Clyde, awarded two stu­dents with the Mayor Recog­ni­tion Award.

Chandler Kiser who at­tends West­side El­e­men­tary was nom­i­nated by his 6th grade teacher, Mon­ica Bair. She said, “Chandler con­stantly strives to do his best in ev­ery sub­ject. He is con­stantly kind and re­spect­ful to all those around him…he looks out for other stu­dents who may not have friends and reaches out to them.”

Award re­cip­i­ent, Heidi Sum­sion, ex­cels in many ar­eas. Mike Dun­can, her prin­ci­pal at Cherry Creek El­e­men­tary, wrote, “Heidi is a fan­tas­tic stu­dent. She is a friend to ev­ery­one and has an in­fec­tious smile.” Heidi re­cently came in 4th place at the Her­shey Track fi­nals in Her­shey Penn­syl­va­nia. It is the sec­ond time she has had the honor of rep­re­sent­ing Springville at the Na­tional com­pe­ti­tion.
