The Sun­day Con­cert Se­ries on Novem­ber 19th, spon­sored by the Springville Arts Com­mis­sion, will fea­ture bari­tone, Rex Kocher­hans and so­prano, Melissa Heath ac­com­pa­nied by Jill Win­ters. Per­for­mances are held at the Springville Mu­seum of Art start­ing at 4:30 p.m. and are free to the pub­lic. Rex Kocher­hans has been a fea­tured soloist with the Mor­mon Taber­na­cle Choir, Salt Lake Choral Artists, Utah Baroque En­sem­ble, and BYU Singers. Rex is a found­ing mem­ber of the na­tion­ally renowned quar­tet Reprise, which won the Gold Medal at the in­ter­na­tional col­le­giate bar­ber­shop com­pe­ti­tion and has shared the stage with the King’s Singers. He per­formed in Europe, West Africa, Aus­tralia, New Zealand, and the Mid­dle East with the BYU Singers, in­clud­ing con­certs at the Syd­ney Opera House and Carnegie Hall. Rex is founder and Artis­tic Di­rec­tor of Con­sor­tium and De­seret Cham­ber Singers, cham­ber en­sem­bles based in Salt Lake City. His voice can be heard on nu­mer­ous com­mer­cial record­ing projects. He cur­rently lives in Lehi, Utah, with his four fa­vorite peo­ple: his tal­ented and sup­port­ive wife Kate and three daugh­ters.

So­prano Melissa Heath en­joys a var­ied ca­reer of opera, con­cert and recital work. Hailed as a “soar­ing, sparkling so­prano” with “vi­va­cious stage pres­ence”, Ms. Heath has been a state fi­nal­ist and dis­trict win­ner in the Met­ro­pol­i­tan Opera’s Na­tional Coun­cil Au­di­tions. In 2012 and 2014, she was a re­gional fi­nal­ist in the Na­tional As­so­ci­a­tion of Teach­ers of Singing’s bi­en­nial art song com­pe­ti­tion. Ms. Heath re­ceived her Bach­e­lor’s de­gree in voice from Brigham Young Univer­sity and sang for four years with BYU Singers. She holds an MM and a DMA in voice from the Univer­sity of Utah. She cur­rently teaches at Utah Val­ley Univer­sity.

Jill Win­ters, ac­com­pa­nist, has a master’s de­gree in pi­ano per­for­mance and ped­a­gogy from BYU and main­tains a small pri­vate pi­ano stu­dio in Lin­don. Jill also has a master’s de­gree in choral con­duct­ing and con­ducts Can­tus, a se­lect women’s choir. She has also con­ducted the BYU Alumni Choir, the Wasatch Cham­ber Singers, the BYU Univer­sity Cho­rale, and a choir of women in­mates at the Utah State Prison. At BYU, Jill taught choral ped­a­gogy, con­duct­ing classes, group pi­ano, key­board har­mony, and pri­vate pi­ano.

The an­nual Utah Val­ley Hand Bell Ringers Christ­mas con­certs will be held Sun­day, De­cem­ber 14th. Ad­mis­sion is by ticket only. Tick­ets are free of charge and can be ob­tained at the Springville Mu­seum of Art dur­ing business hours after Thanks­giv­ing week­end.
