Amer­i­can Le­gion cel­e­brates Vet­er­ans Day

An evening of good food, friend­ship and re­mem­ber­ing was en­joyed by the mem­bers and guests of Springville Amer­i­can Le­gion and Aux­il­iary Post and Unit #28, Novem­ber 12th for Vet­er­ans Day.

Keith Davis in­tro­duced Colleen Hat­field who pre­sented a mem­o­rable pro­gram of mu­sic and sto­ries of her un­cle Franklin Caras who was shot down in the Viet­nam War and was never re­cov­ered. She told of her Greek grand­fa­ther An­gel Caras who em­i­grated from Greece. He be­came a U.S. Cit­i­zen and joined the Army and served in World War I.

She sang Coun­try songs in the Patsy Cline style and also pa­tri­otic songs, such as “God Bless Amer­ica” and “God Bless the USA”.

The din­ner was a fund raiser for the Salt Lake Vet­er­ans Hos­pi­tal Gift Shop and the Cen­tral Utah Vet­er­ans Home Gift Store in Payson.

The De­cem­ber meet­ing will be a Potluck and White Ele­phant Bingo Party. Bring your own dishes and a white ele­phant prize. The meet­ing will be De­cem­ber 10th at the Springville Se­nior Cit­i­zen Cen­ter at 7 pm. (65 East 200 South)
