Keith Davis hon­ored at Le­gion con­fer­ence

Amer­i­can Le­gion Dis­trict #4 held its Dis­trict Spring Con­fer­ence in Orem on March 28. At this meet­ing, Keith Davis of Springville was pre­sented a 70-year Cer­tifi­cate of Con­tin­u­ous Membership from Springville Com­man­der Fred Hurst. The cer­tifi­cate was signed by Amer­i­can Le­gion Na­tional Com­man­der Michael D. Helm.

Davis has served the Amer­i­can Le­gion in many ways. He has held ev­ery of­fice in the Post #28 and was com­man­der for many years. He was a coun­selor at Amer­i­can Le­gion Boys State for 20 years. He was first vice com­man­der for Dis­trict #4. He was depart­ment his­to­rian for 13

years.

He is also in the Amer­i­can Le­gion Honor Guard and has par­tic­i­pated in al­most 2,000 vet­er­ans fu­ner­als be­gin­ning in 1946. He drew the plans for the Vet­er­ans Pav­il­ion in Kelly’s Grove and the Vet­er­ans Me­mo­rial in Ev­er­green Ceme­tery. He has been chair­man of the Le­gion Or­a­tor­i­cal Con­test.

Keith has given talks about his World War II ser­vice in Europe with Gen­eral Ge­orge Pat­ton’s 3rd Army to groups at col­leges, high schools and mid­dle schools. He has spo­ken at fire­sides, to empty nesters, to civic clubs and at Scout meet­ings. Davis knows that free­dom is not free.
