Dr. E. Mark Bez­zant, for­mer as­sis­tant vice pres­i­dent for Utah Val­ley Uni­ver­sity, re­cently pre­sented a beau­ti­ful bronze bust of Abra­ham Lin­coln to the Nebo School Dis­trict Board of Ed­u­ca­tion.

Dr. Bez­zant pre­sented the gift just a day be­fore Lin­coln’s birth­day, Feb. 12. He thanked Nebo School Dis­trict for the won­der­ful job it does in pre­par­ing the stu­dents of to­day. Dr. Bez­zant had a plaque made with a quote by Lin­coln to go with the Lin­coln bust. The plaque reads, “Upon the sub­ject of ed­u­ca­tion, ... I can only say that I view it as the most im­por­tant sub­ject which we, as a peo­ple, can be en­gaged in ....” - Abra­ham Lin­coln.

Both of th­ese items are be­ing dis­played in the front en­try of the Nebo School Dis­trict of­fice build­ing un­der a large orig­i­nal paint­ing by David Hughes-Mill­man, art teacher at Span­ish Fork Ju­nior High School.

Dr. Bez­zant cre­ated many won­der­ful part­ner­ships for Utah Val­ley Uni­ver­sity. By the time he re­tired, he was com­monly known as the unof­fi­cial his­to­rian of the school.

Nebo School Dis­trict thanks Dr. Bez­zant for mak­ing nu­mer­ous dona­tions to our stu­dents and ed­u­ca­tional fa­cil­i­ties.
