Utah State Uni­ver­sity’s Dr. Larry Rupp, Con­fer­ence Chair, and Utah Nurs­ery Land­scape As­so­ci­a­tion Ex­ec­u­tive Direc­tor Diane M. Jones are all smiles dur­ing the UNLA Green Con­fer­ence held at the South Towne Expo Cen­ter in Jan­uary. The three-day con­fer­ence and in­dus­try trade show had 155 trade show ex­hibitors. There were over 1,000 at­ten­dees which in­cluded park and recre­ation em­ploy­ees from sev­eral cities in the south Utah Val­ley area as well as from the Nebo School Dis­trict grounds depart­ment. Ses­sion top­ics in­cluded ir­ri­ga­tion, land­scape, de­sign, green­house/gar­den cen­ter, turf man­age­ment and ar­bori­cul­ture. LuAnn Adams, state com­mis­sioner of the Depart­ment of Agri­cul­ture and Food, was the key­note speaker. Von Isaman of Salem pre­sented a ses­sion on soil en­gi­neer­ing and was a dis­cus­sion pan­elist mem­ber on turf prob­lems.
