Amer­i­can Le­gion holds poppy din­ner

The Springville-Maple­ton Amer­i­can Le­gion Post and Unit 28 held their an­nual Poppy-Spaghetti Din­ner on May 13. The money raised goes to ben­e­fit vet­er­ans. The din­ner was served by Aux­il­iary Girls State, girls that will at­tend Girls State at We­ber State Uni­ver­sity this month. En­ter­tain­ment was fur­nished by Blue Sky Jazz. They played many popular and old-time fa­vorites. Please look up and read the Poppy Story and the popular poem by Colonel John McCrae, “In Flan­ders Fields.” Pic­tured above are Pro­gram Chair­man Charmian Tay­lor, Devin Smith, Dy­lan Larsen, Tyler Smith and Derek Larsen. The next meet­ing will be on June 10 at 7 p.m. at the Springville Se­nior Cit­i­zens Cen­ter, 65 E. 200 South.
