Stu­dents plant trees for Ar­bor Day

By an of­fi­cial res­o­lu­tion from Mayor Steve Leif­son, Span­ish Fork Ar­bor Day 2016 was ob­served twice this year. On April 27 and April 29, stu­dents from Riverview and Larsen el­e­men­tary schools par­tic­i­pated in Ar­bor Day pro­grams by plant­ing trees in two of the city’s parks as well as hav­ing pro­grams at their schools.

Span­ish Fork City has met the four stan­dards to be­come a Tree City USA Community, which are hav­ing a tree board, a tree care or­di­nance, a com­pre­hen­sive community forestry pro­gram and an Ar­bor Day ob­ser­vance. The Wasatch Front Community Area Forester made the Tree City USA Award pre­sen­ta­tion to Span­ish Fork City dur­ing a lun­cheon at­tended by rep­re­sen­ta­tives of Utah cities and towns on April 12. This marks Span­ish Fork City’s 17th con­sec­u­tive year re­ceiv­ing this na­tional recog­ni­tion.
