Alyssa Behrend named Miss San­taquin 2017

On April 15, the San­taquin com­mu­nity gath­ered for the Miss San­taquin Schol­ar­ship Pageant. The night fea­tured 11 bright and en­thu­si­as­tic young women com­pet­ing for the ti­tle of Miss San­taquin 2017. The con­tes­tants were Emily Wa­ter, Brook­lyn Brighton, Tayler Ol­son, Michelle Zamora, Josh­lynn Ler­will, Ka­t­rina Judd, Hat­tie Choules, Malena Larsen, Shaylee Jensen, Staci Snow and Alyssa Behrend.

The pro­duc­tion fea­tured a stun­ning Broad­way theme that high­lighted the in­cred­i­ble beauty and tal­ent of the con­tes­tants. Dur­ing the night, each con­tes­tant par­tic­i­pated in com­pe­ti­tion cat­e­gories in­clud­ing life­style and fit­ness, tal­ent, an on­stage ques­tion and evening wear. There was also a 10-minute pri­vate in­ter­view with the judges done ear­lier in the day. Dur­ing the pageant, Miss San­taquin 2016 Shae­lyn Wa­ters se­lected Keela Goudy as the re­cip­i­ent of the pageant-spon­sored Out­stand­ing Woman Award for com­mu­nity ser­vice.

Each con­tes­tant did an ab­so­lutely fan­tas­tic job through­out all the ar­eas of com­pe­ti­tion.

The pageant con­cluded with the an­nounce­ment of the 2017 Miss San­taquin Roy­alty: Alyssa Behrend, queen ($2,500 schol­ar­ship); Ka­t­rina Judd, first at­ten­dant ($1,500 schol­ar­ship); Staci Snow, sec­ond at­ten­dant ($1,200 schol­ar­ship); and Shaylee Jensen, third at­ten­dant ($900 schol­ar­ship).

Other awards pre­sented dur­ing the evening were: Michelle Zamora, Miss Con­ge­nial­ity; Josh­lynn Ler­will, Chil­dren’s Mir­a­cle Net­work Fundrais­ing Schol­ar­ship; Hat­tie Choules, Direc­tor’s Award; Josh­lynn Ler­will, Com­mu­nity Sup­port Award; and Staci Snow, Miss Con­ge­nial­ity.

Behrend’s com­mu­nity plat­form is “No One Fights Alone” and fo­cuses on sup­port and fundrais­ing for those fight­ing can­cer in the San­taquin com­mu­nity. She will pro­mote that plat­form through­out her reign. Miss San­taquin is a ser­vice or­ga­ni­za­tion and works to pro­vide young women with schol­ar­ships and ser­vice op­por­tu­ni­ties. Behrend is ex­cited to serve San­taquin and looks for­ward to pro­mot­ing her plat­form through­out the com­mu­nity.
